Another huge nail in the coffin of psychiatry

Another huge nail in the coffin of psychiatry

by Jon Rappoport

February 19, 2015

As my readers know, I’ve assembled a wide-ranging case against psychiatry.

Psychiatry isn’t a science. It isn’t even close. It’s a hoax.

The bible of the profession, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders (DSM), lists some 300 separate and distinct mental disorders.

However, none of the 300 has a defining physical test for diagnosis. No blood test, no urine test, no hair test, no brain scan, no genetic assay.

Here’s another huge nail in the coffin. It was hammered by exactly the kind of establishment leader the press likes to quote when it defends the establishment. Only this time…

On April 29, 2013, at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) website, Director Thomas Insel, the highest ranking federal mental-health official in the US, published a blog commentary: “Transforming Diagnosis.” Insel wrote:

“In a few weeks, the American Psychiatric Association will release its new edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5)…

“The strength of each of the editions of DSM has been ‘reliability’ – each edition has ensured that clinicians use the same terms in the same ways. The weakness is its lack of validity. Unlike our definitions of ischemic heart disease, lymphoma, or AIDS, the DSM diagnoses are based on a consensus about clusters of clinical symptoms, not any objective laboratory measure.”

Not any objective laboratory measure.

Again: Not any objective laboratory measure.

That’s called a death sentence.

If anyone paid attention to it.

The Matrix Revealed

It’s on the order of the US Attorney General holding a press conference and admitting that every one of its criminal prosecutions, going back 70 years, was based on fraudulent cooked evidence.

If you or your child is ever in the presence of a psychiatrist who gets up on his high horse, makes a diagnosis, and tries to foist drugs on you, you might pay attention to Thomas Insel’s statement, tell the shrink who Insel is, and read his statement out loud, in the sober and somber style of a mortician.

Ditto if you’re dealing with a teacher, school counselor, psychologist, or principal who thinks he knows anything at all about “mental health.”

We must help educate the misinformed, mustn’t we? Isn’t it our civic duty to lift up professional idiots and set them straight?

Psychiatry. Not a science.

It pretends to be.

By any definition, that makes it a hoax.

Imagine this: “Mrs. Jones, your son has a heart-valve problem. How do I know? A few colleagues and I looked at his eyebrows, got together over drinks, and decided we should wheel him into surgery right away. Diagnostic tests? Why no. We don’t test. We chew the fat. We concur. We collude.”

In the arena of “mental health,” that’s the method of psychiatry.

I share a lot of those same thoughts.

  3. Thank you for your continued insights Jon. I am 60 years old and when I was 17 (1972 +/-) I was quite rebellious (putting it very mildly,) and my parents sent me to a “shrink” to find out what my problem was. Lucky for me the DSM did not exist at the time or I got lucky and got a “good” shrink (if such a thing can exist,) and after a first appointment/interview, he decided that he wanted to give me an IQ test on my next visit. I made sure that I was prepared and I took a hit of acid about 1 hour before the appointment to insure that I was ready for him. To make a long story short, I was tested at 140 (did the acid hinder or accent it?) and he told my parents that I was a very smart kid that was extremely frustrated with the world, and just let me find my own way and give me some room. I never saw him again.

The reason that I tell this story is that if that scenario happened today, I would be drooling in the corner on multiple psychotropic drugs with labels such as “ODD- Oppositional Defiance Disorder,” or would have been selected for some MK Ultra mind control experiments because of my IQ. I owe it to you and your free sharing of your deeply investigated and well written knowledge the fact that I know these and other terms today, and I now have the knowledge to see reality for what it is, and the imagination to remake it the way I want it to be.

I have always known, since my first thoughts, that things on this planet are pretty screwed up. I dealt with it in a rebellious fashion for the first 20 years of my life (I even in a group that sued the local school board and fought in Federal Court for 3 days in 1971 and was educated to the fact that I have no Constitutional rights till I am legal voting age, which was 21 at the time) and then I went underground and blended into the shadows for a long time, in a deep slumber and ignorant (purposely ignoring) of the world around me. About 9 years ago I “awoke” and realized that was not an option any longer and that it was time for me to get busy and learn what “reality” really is. In my exploration of the internet I ran across you about 6 years ago or so, and I have always looked forward to your next revelation and inspiration.

I am an artist/craftsman/musician and I have always marched to a different drummer, and it has been great to vicariously meet another with wisdom that shares so freely. Being that type that I am (separated from the “system” as much as possible) comes with a price, and that is that “money” is scarce and luxuries are rare. Thank “god” (and Al Gore) for the internet, because it has been the salvation of an information/reality starved person such as myself. Thank you for your continued free sharing of your insights and wisdom.

Thanks for sharing your story, but for me it’s rather creepy … it was like holding a mirror up to my own life, and the synchronicities are tingling. If I only had someone like you to share parts of my journey, when young and exploring, then it may not have been so lonely. Enjoy the rest of your time here, it’s comforting to know that we’re not alone.

That’s why I subscribe to this site.

    • Gee.

I still remember my childhood psychologist’s name, for the fact of seeing him, weekly, for so long. The problem was, my MOTHER put me in a “children’s center” for about a year, and my then step-Father pulled me out of there. He reasoned that it was a place for “sick” children, and I was NOT a sick child.

A hidden “record” follows you for the rest of your days, especially with this vindictive “government”! Gee, THANKS “MOM”!

“A psychiatrist visited a California mental institution and asked a
patient, “How did you get here? What was the nature of your illness?”
    He got this reply…

“Well, it all started when I got married and I guess I should never
have done it. I got hitched to a widow with a grown daughter who then
became my stepdaughter. My daddy came to visit us, fell in love with
my lovely stepdaughter, then married her. And so my stepdaughter was
now my stepmother. Soon, my wife had a son who was, of course, my
daddy’s brother-in-law since he is the half-brother of my
stepdaughter, who is now, of course, my daddy’s wife. So, as I told
you, when my stepdaughter married my daddy, she was at once my
stepmother! Now, since my new son is brother to my stepmother, he also
became my uncle. As you know, my wife is my step-grandmother since she
is my stepmother’s mother. Don’t forget that my stepmother is my
stepdaughter. Remember, too, that I am my wife’s grandson. But hold on
just a few minutes more. You see, since I’m married to my
step-grandmother, I am not only the wife’s grandson and her hubby, but
I am also my own grandfather. Now can you understand how I got put in
    this place?”

At least heart-valve problems aren’t invented and voted into existence at a committee meeting of the American Psychiatric Association.

“The low level of intellectual effort was shocking. Diagnoses were developed by majority vote on the level we would use to choose a restaurant. You feel like Italian, I feel like Chinese, so let’s go to a cafeteria. Then it’s typed into the computer. It may reflect on our naiveté, but it was our belief that there would be an attempt to look at things scientifically.”

“At least heart-valve problems aren’t invented and voted into existence at a committee meeting of the American Psychiatric Association.”

I agree, but then I know from experience that some psychiatrists sometimes also manipulate “normal” doctors into operating (yes, with scalpels and stuff) on “healthy” people.
And you know why? Because the psychiatrist did not “like” the individual in question.

The psychiatrists thought process must go something like this: “hmm, lets see, I don’t like this person, so I have to destroy his life, just for kicks you know ? and for the money of course. And, and this is the most important part, and because I am a sadistically inclined person! (grin, smileyface)”.

Psychiatry is for the most part, as far as I can tell, a sadist club.

Some of them speak up when they discover that psychiatry is not all that it is cracked up to be, most don’t and indulge in their sadism.

      It is truly disgusting.

  6. TY Jon, another truthful intelligent report. There are many graves to dig sir. The day I became aware, is when years ago, my wife had a nervous breakdown, the shrink told her, in front of me, “lady, im here to write scripts, not talk” OOOOOO , I took her to a decent doctor, got her some valium, her mother had passed away. I am of a mind most of them are far sicker, than those they so call treat.
Jon, you are appreciated, and, as always brave, open, deep. no butter man just truth. Some don’t get it, too bad, someday, there MAY, just may, get a brain. much aloha friend.

  9. Jamie says:

    True story;
I was at the University of Vanderbilt ER because of ongoing stomach ‘issues’ caused by the removal of my gallbladder, I was sitting on the sterile papered podium speaking with the ER doc when my sister piped in,” I have 3 alternate personalities living inside of me. I was diagnosed with multiple personalities.” She gleefully offered. The look on the doctors face was priceless. The room, deafeningly quiet. We all just stared at my sister. No one stared harder than I did if I remember correctly. The doctor left the room and returned with hospital security. We were summarily escorted out of the building. The shocking part of this story is that my sister was a tenured elementary school teacher of 25 years and held a ‘Masters’ in Psychology as well as a degree in Nutrition.
Moral of the story? Keep your kids at home under your own tutelage. It is abundantly evident that the ‘inmates’ run the ‘Asylum’. Speaking of Asylums, has anyone seen the new Kate Beckinsale movie, ‘Stonehearst Asylum’? Very auspicious movie for these times.

“James Thurber once sat by his window watching men cut down Elm trees to clear a site for an institution in which to confine people who had been driven insane by the cutting down of Elm trees.” – James Herndon from ‘How To Survive In Your Native Land’
That is how it’s done. The shrink I went to gave me Lorazepam to treat Anxieties. It put me to sleep, so yeah, I guess you can’t have attacks while you’re asleep, right?
Over a year later, according to my full medical report w/ several squeaky-clean tox screens, I found out she wasn’t treating me for GAD. She had diagnosed me with 304.80 Polysubstance dependence. She said I was dependant on the crap she was prescribing for me.

  11. Presider says:

The American Psychiatric Assn tried to scientific-ize the diagnoses in the DSM-III-3 or the revised DSM-III-R, I forget which, but they sent me the study. Here’s the paradigm: They gave a group of clinicians a case history and asked them to form a diagnosis from the facts therein. The result was essentially zero agreement on a diagnosis between the clinicians except for profound mental retardation and florid (hallucinatory) schizophrenia (which any layman could diagnose).

But, it gets better (actually worse).

Some months later they gave the same clinicians the same history and asked them to form a diagnosis. There was essentially zero agreement between the first diagnosis each clinician made and the second one each made on the same set of facts.

The clinicians not only did not agree with each other on the DSM diagnosis applied to the same set of facts, they didn’t agree with their own initial diagnosis on the same set of facts.

They sent me a copy of the study on request a few years ago, but I don’t know if they are still distributing it. Too embarrassing maybe.

It is even more disheartening to know that a psychiatrist need not be board certified (many have trouble with the neurology part of the exam). And, that a psychiatrist is not qualified to give a routine medical examination.

    Fraud from the get go.

As a psychologist, I refused to use the DSM because the ethical code for psychologists says: 1. The clinicians work must be done on established scientific findings; and 2. The patient must be given informed consent about the use to which such diagnoses may be put. (They go into the Medical Information Bureau’s data base in Boston, where they can be disseminated to do their damage to people’s lives.)

  12. Reblogged this on BLAB: The Bad [Lyme] Attitude Blog and commented:
Anyone reading my blog needs to know this. Doctors who say your very real symptoms are all in your head, or from depression, or lack of exercise, or created by you to get attention, are full of crap and should not be practicing medicine. Their job is to find a cause for your symptoms–not to blame you for magically creating them in some kind of bizarre narcissistic yet masochistic witchery. Show them that Dr. Insel of the NIMH says psychiatry is NOT VALID and say it won’t be tolerated.

  13. A says:

As a former cog in the “corporate mental health system,” I cannot agree more with you. My awakenings to the wrongness of the field in which I had obtained a Master’s degree and ascended to the directorship of a trauma team/family therapy team at a teaching hospital in Boston came over many years.

My first stint out of grad school came at probably THE most prestigious teaching hospital in Boston, where I worked in the emergency outreach psychiatric service. There, I had a boss who was completely candid: He said to me, “We are not here to help people – no – we are agents of social control.” Wow. Wonderful man.

Later, I realized that when one breaks down the work “psychotherapist” into it’s component parts, one gets “psycho the rapist.” It was then that the seed of awareness really took hold. “Geez,” I pondered, “is this just a huge mind F&*%?” The answer is, indeed, “yes, it is.”

At my prestigious position in a prestigious institution, gained after years of “serving obediently and correctly,” I was known as the best diagnostician in the department – now, much to my embarrassment. It reminds me of my psych 101 class in college where one trains a pigeon to turn around in full circles at the stimulus of a green light. Then, at 19, I was the fastest in the class to accomplish this task – and proud of it. Oooh, how now the shame of it strikes home. I forgive myself, because I awakened so many years later. I do, indeed, have many years of dutifully following the DSM (I left the field when it was still the 3 version).

Finally, just one night doing an evaluation in the emergency room of the 8 year old son of a 15 year old I had “treated” years before, I realized the total, complete truth of what my first mentor had said to me: “We are not helping anyone.” That night, I literally dropped my clip board and walked out. My spiritual, ethical and moral integrity would not allow me to, any longer, participate in that system.

For several years after I left, I would, every once and a while, grab and tear my hair and say, “OMG, WHAT HAVE I DONE?? I walked away from a highly rewarding system!!” That is true – it IS a highly, financially “rewarding” system. Without integrity nor compassion nor heart.

But, you know, when I called a former colleague after those several years and told the above to her, she simply said, “Oh, no, my dear, you have no idea what you left behind here. YOU DID what every one of us wishes we had the guts to do, but don’t.” Following your guts is a rare and beautiful thing and others admire and remember it, even if they cannot do it in this lifetime. They will one day – summon courage and their own belief in themselves. DO what you know is right – it does have lasting impact, even though it comes with no reward.

Now, in another profession, 17 years later, people ask me if I would ever do “psychology” again. No, not in that way.

The first thing I would do if I were to do a philosophical consult with anyone is to sit them down and say, “There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with you. What you are trying to do is function in an entirely dysfunctional system, and that is the paradox. You have choices you can make.” As I did.

I cannot remember the psychiatrist who said this (Victor Frankl or some such – the name escapes me), but this is it:

“When you awaken inside of an insane culture, and this culture IS insane,
YOU will feel that you are insane. Others will treat you as though you are insane.
You must walk all the way to the edge of that insanity and look into that abyss . . .
And then you must return, for that is when you become a useful member of society.”

Thank you for all of your good work, Jon. I am right there with you, having traversed the entirety of the profession from the inside and then outside of it. You speak the truth. I know it from my experience. Keep on doing what you do so well.

    thank you

    • Thank you for your frank and honest “confession” for it is taken with all of the heart felt sincerity and honesty in which it is given. This culture IS INSANE, but WE together can change that and people like you with courage to bring forth the “reality”,can make that happen. Thank you for your response and honesty, as well as your fortitude for the benefit of humanity as a whole..

There’s a long way between “it’s a chemical imbalance” and people understanding psychiatry for what it really is.

“You just don’t like it because they told you what to do” (comment by family member to me).

I have been called “gullible” for reading “Toxic Psychiatry” by a long term (anti)depressant taker. Perhaps I may leave a copy of “Deadly Medicines and Organised Crime” on the bench next time.

“Oh, you don’t want your son to have an operation to fix his heart valve?”

“Too bad, we are going ahead anyway”.

I will mention the statement made by Insel at my next appointment. I will have a hanky at the ready to wipe the bullshit from around the shrink’s lips.

Thanks Jon for another nice big dose of reality.

As a Psychologist, I am ashamed to say that we are no better, only difference is that we can’t write prescriptions. I stopped practicing 10 years ago because I was not helping my clients change their heart/soul condition, I was only helping them understand WHY they were in that condition. As a survivor of several child and sexual abuse, I became a Psychologist believing I would not only understand but also heal from my own traumas, but what healed me was the knowledge that I was powerful and that everything I needed to heal was inside.
I now live in Croatia, my country of birth and when people call me for help, I tell them: “Sure, I will teach you how to become your own master and that will take a few hours, got the time for it?”.
I am not saying that Psychology is worthless, but it doesn’t reach the level of heart/mind/soul, it only helps the patient analyze and understand why they behave or think a certain way, that takes years when a simple technique like EFT will help within a few minutes. Don’t dare tell your clients this, you won’t make any money on them. Well I do, and I help them help themselves, in return I get more clients because they too want to learn how to be masters of their own destiny.
    Great post Jon.

  18. Ines Radman says:

Reblogged this on You Are The Light That You Always Have Been and commented:
I was just about to write a post about the worthlessness of Psychology while doing some research came across this post. It’s not worthless but it is a waste of time. I now spend my time teaching my clients how to be masters and help themselves. As a survivor of sexual abuse, I can tell you psychology doesn’t heal the pain, it only helps you understand some things, but really, how can I know what was in my father’s mind when he was abusing me and even if I did know, that didn’t change anything. We need to become masters of our own destinies, learn how powerful we are and that all the answers lie within, this is why I stopped practicing years ago, I felt helpless working in a system that was not designed to help but rather create dependency on the therapist.

    • My sisters were also victims of child sexual abuse and can verify that Psychology or psychiatry
( they both have degrees in Psychology ) does nothing to address this pernicious and vicious crime; It merely acclimates one to the inherent conditions that allowed for such crimes to flourish.
I, personally, have no memory of such abuses but, according to my sisters, I had 9 of the 10 behaviors of sexual abuse victims. This prompted me to seek ‘help’ from this particular Industry and what I realized during the course of my ‘therapy’ was that I was being gently guided to acclimate myself to the vicious conditions of societal engineering. These social engineers want us to believe that we live in a bubble ,and, within this microcosmic sphere, what happens to us has no root cause or relation to the macrocosm.
Never once we did touch upon the root of any social injustice. We merely talked about my “inner child” and how to protect this child. Seeing as how children, and their inherent spiritual, mental, physical and emotional needs, are completely marginalized, if not down right ignored, I saw no value in going through these exercises . What became obvious to me during the course of these visits was that I was being acclimated to a very diseased society. I am sure that this was the intention of the pedophiles who created this profit industry….adding insult to injury.

I can recall that my father was reading a great deal of published ‘science’ on ‘False Memories’
( what a load of bull excrement ), trying to explain away the “memories” that my sisters shared of his abuse. I can remember my father actually telling me that we suffered from “false memory syndrome”, yet, my mother told me what she witnessed my father doing to my sister. When I confronted him about these allegations….from his own wife….he repeatedly told me to shut up and that what I recounted to him was not what my mother told me. He was not even present during this confession.

Pedophiles ( they are at the head of social engineering…the crown of that proverbial pyramid ) are extremely cunning people. They build great artifices of impregnable bullshite.. They protect each other. It does not take a leap of logic to see that this is a reality. I recall speaking with a woman many years ago ( she was married to a VP of a very large “information technology” company ) who confessed to catching her husband with child porn on his computer.
This list of pedophiles is long and illustrious….and guarded like the Vatican catacombs.

This crime is not random nor is it trivial. It is entrenched in the very roots of our earliest beginnings and I thank you, Ines, for bringing this topic to light within the scope of fraudulent social engineers and their de-mented social institutions.

Acclimation is the key word to associate forever with the profit industries of Psychiatry/Psychology.

      • Ines Radman says:

thank you for taking the time to share your story, we need to talk about this and get rid of this industry that is insidious and cunning. Because of my abuse as a small child, my brain doesn’t create enough serotonin so I suffer from clinical depression, when I moved to Croatia and asked the psychiatrist if I can continue with Venlafax I also suffer from fibromyalgia, she told me she would give me a new drug and I refused, I didn’t need behavioral change, I was not depressed per say as in a negative environment, I simply sleep a lot and can’t get motivated so I told her this that i needed a med to increase the serotonin levels and she told me to go fuck myself and find another psychiatrist because she wanted the drug that she makes the most money off of, it was disgusting and in the end, I bought St. John’s Wort and it’s been doing fine for me, I should thank the bitch for refusing ! Sorry for the foul language but that is how I feel when I write about these social engineers that feel they know what we feel better than we do.

        • Venus Retrograde says:

Yes, raping the mind or body causes a plethora of emotional and physical problems for the victim that lasts many lifetimes.
. I find no offense in your tone or language because people like us were made to eat our own pain and anguish. We were made to be silent about the most vicious crime on Earth. I know so many women who were sexually abused by a grandfather, step-father, uncle, brother, father, cousin that the statistics are obviously contrived. This is an epidemic. No wonder psyquackery was invented. The perps obviously needed a way to deflect their crimes.

When I recall a good and loving young man recounting the story of observing the rape of his sister ….by his own father….I could feel his pain and anger. It was palpable…and I felt deeply for his grief. He had to keep this secret he told me under the threat of his own death. His own father threatened to kill him if he told anyone. As difficult as this is to believe it is how this world operates. It is a bully system. All ‘Institutions’ are on built upon this premise; Authority trumps intrinsic, human rights.
I, personally, have no hope for humanity at this time. Pornography has invaded our homes via the idiot box and eagerly consumed as a staple in our sacred spaces. Children are raised on sexual innuendo and imagery at birth; Insuring that they act out through their lower chakras for their entire lives.
Rapist fathers and Uncles do as much.
I have found that this topic seems almost ‘impolite’ to discuss openly. It inspires an eerie silence, and, maybe that is because it is, after all, a misogynistic world. Women and children have no voice…no vote for what kind of world they would want. I certainly could NEVER have dreamed up such a putrid world for my beloved sons. Never.
No, I have 0% confidence that men will take control of their minds thus allowing them to open their hearts. None. And this is a shame as I am a Sagittarian. Sagittarians are usually quite optimistic souls. Maybe it is that I am afforded the ability to see far into the future and what I have been shown is quite bleak. Maybe it is the reality of our male dominated world that leaves me despondent and hopeless…or quite possibly, maybe it is because people such as you and I lived the truth of this perverse world. Yeah….I think experience trumps all theory and conjecture.

Keep nurturing yourself, Ines, through natural and loving means and leave the synthetic death pills for those carpet baggers and scalawags that created them.
