Exit From The Matrix

Imagination is as natural and real as breathing. People who don’t know this or forget it come up against a brick wall.

Some of them then go to booze and drugs, some to violence, some to despair, some to the straitjacket of a severely repetitive mechanical life, some to the dull, dull ground of passivity.

Life is not a machine. Humans are not machines, although they often play one day after day.

Humans are creative.

They can step on that, try to grind it into dust, make up a thousand excuses, but the fact remains.

Societies and civilizations are never creative, after a certain point in their development. They opt for standard shapes and standard patterns of thought and standard organizations.

This devolution isn’t just the “the strong controlling the weak.”

It’s a subconscious impulse that spreads like a disease. Throughout history, you see it manifest in many forms.

These days, we have the massive Surveillance State. It’s an expression of “the standard human who must think and act in certain ways.”

Imagination puts the lie to all this.

Imagination goes anywhere you want it to, and in the process, you discover ideas and realms and dimensions and power that would otherwise have remained invisible to the end of time.

This is the natural state of affairs.

Everything else is programming.

Programming comes in two forms: what is done to the individual, and what he does to himself.

Every spiritual system and spiritual teaching, down through history, has initially or eventually discarded imagination and thrown it on the junk-heap.

It’s long past the time to reverse that trend.

What has been called The Matrix is a series of layers. These layers compose what we call Reality. Reality is not merely the consensus people accept in their daily lives. It is also a personal and individual conception of limits. It is a perception that these limits are somehow built into existence. But this is not true.

What I’ve done here is remove the lid on those perceived limits. This isn’t an intellectual undertaking. It’s a way to open up space and step on to a new road.

I invite you to that road.

  1. Michael Burns says:

In many I have used these exercises. I consider them to to be highly beneficial, even to the person who does not paint. Solving life problems is an imaginative and creative process. I have been painting and considered myself to be an artist for close to three decades. I have had up and downs, artistic blocks and have had to get through them. It has not been until now that I realized being a painter one can create an adjunct to the think box that most of us call a mind. The information in EFM helped me break through into larger spaces that are my own and are bigger more creative more imaginative places. And I see no end in that…Thank you Jon

  2. From Québec says:

Yes, and please keep writing about it, Jon.
Imagination is the key that opens every door.

  3. Jackie ONeil says:

I am so grateful that I didn’t let any grass grow under my feet, was into painting, writing poetry, piano and all kinds of music with dancing solely and w/partner and then slowly but surely I found myself in the middle eighyies, age wise that is, and finaly realized that I didn’t have a bad life at all and now it is time too slow down a bit, not too slow just slow enough so I can still enjoy the beauty of the seasons, the beauty of musc and art all kinds, people and friends, also family while they are still around, today I finally realized who I am , where I came from and where I am going, yes it was a beautiful life and hopefully it shall continuei on and on for our grndchildren and their lives as well, thankyou for you in debth into past and to remember al the good that was, many blessings with love and ligt surrounding us daily, thanks. Jackie ONeil

  4. John C. A. Manley says:

“Societies and civilizations are never creative, after a certain point in their development.” I thought that was a brilliant observation. Society is built on creative thinkers, but then restricts further creativity by mass producing the new ideas for use by everyone; which makes it difficult to introduce new ideas. Of course, the benefit might be that it avoids every new hiccup someone’s imagination puts forth as getting undo attention.
