The State weaponizes education to create ignorance

Independent Education: the crisis and the crossroad

by Jon Rappoport

February 14, 2018

A hundred fifty years ago, at least some Americans recognized that all serious discourse depended on the use of the faculty called Reason.

Formal debate, science, and law all flowed from that source.

A common bond existed in some schools of the day. The student was expected to learn how Reason operates, and for that he was taught the only subject which could lay out, as on a long table, the visible principles: Logic.

This was accepted.

But now, this bond is gone.

The independence engendered by the disciplined study of logic is no longer a desired quality in students.

The classroom, at best, has taken on the appearance of a fact-memorization factory; and we should express grave doubts about the relevance and truth of many of those facts.

A society filled with people who float in the drift of non-logic is a society that declines.

Ideologies that deny individual freedom and independence are welcomed with open arms.

When education becomes so degraded that young students are no longer taught to reason clearly, private citizens have the obligation rebuild that system so the great contribution to Western civilization—logic—is reinstated in its rightful place.

Logic, the key by which true political discourse, science, and law were, in fact, originally developed, must be unearthed.

Logic and reasoning, the capacity to think, the ability to analyze ideas—an ability which has been forgotten, which has been a surpassing virtue in every free civilization—must be restored.

Once a vital thing has been misplaced, buried, and covered over by mindless substitutions, people cannot immediately recognize the original thing has any importance, meaning, or existence.

To declare its importance makes no sense to “the crowd.” They look bewildered and shake their heads. They search their memories and find nothing.

They prefer to adhere to rumor, gossip, accusation, wild speculation, and fear mongering as the primary means of public discourse and assessment of truth.

These habits light their paths. These reflexes give them some degree of pleasure. These idols become their little gods.

To win out over such attachments and superstitions is a job for the long term.

But if our labors yield rewards, we can once again bring import to education, and to the idea of authentic freedom that once cut a wide swathe through darkness.

A string of direct and distracting abuses has saddled our schools. Among them:

* Teachers believe they need to entertain children, in order to capture their attention;

* School systems have substituted the need for public funds in the place of actually supplying a sound education;

* Under the banner of political correctness, school texts have been sanitized to the point of sterility, in order to avoid the possibility of offending, to the slightest degree, any group;

* Students rarely confront information in the form in which it is delivered to people all over the world—they confront substitutes;

* Students have, in this respect, been coddled;

* Subjects such as sex education, which belong in the family, have been delivered into the hands of schools and teachers;

* Indeed, in certain key respects, schools are asked to substitute and stand in for parents;

* Masked as “learning opportunities,” various political agendas have been inserted in school curricula;

* The basis on which every historic document establishing some degree of freedom was debated and drafted—logical thought—has been eliminated from the curriculum as a serious discipline;

* Students are permitted and even encouraged to drift and grasp at superficially attractive ideas and fads of the moment;

* In this respect, freedom has been reinterpreted to mean “mental incapacity and wandering thought”;

* The vast contributions of the ancient Greek civilization, where logic as a crucial subject was born, have been obliterated, minimized or summarized in sterile fashion;

* Logic, the connective tissue which binds together the progression of ideas in rational argument, has been kept away from students;

* The result is the production of shallow minds that cannot see the architecture of reasoning;

* Students, at sea, begin to invent wholly insufficient standards for accepting or rejecting various points of view and supposed authorities;

* Students lose their true independence without ever having gained it;

* The low level of overall literacy in our schools is matched only by the non-comprehension of rational thought;

In the presence of these and other deficiencies and abuses, students are pushed through, from grade to grade, graduation to graduation, as a bureaucratic function, regardless of their ability.

Therefore, citizens of good intent must offload this system. They must assume responsibility for teaching children the missing key to education.

Logic; the capacity to reason, to think lucidly; to separate sense from chatter; to discover deception and avoid being influenced by it; to remain free and independent from the shifting opinions of “the herd”; to maintain personal liberty in the face of every spurious enticement to abandon it; to come to grips with competitive sets of First Principles which will lead to freedom or slavery; these are the stakes in our time.

This is the crossroad.

Choose the path that can bring us the fulfillment of a worthy goal.

Choose reason over vacuous mindlessness.

We, who still know the power of the mind, and who understand how that power can be harnessed to shape independence and liberty, can bring, out of the dust of recent history, an education that truly trains the intellect.

Logic is the foundation of such an education.

If schools, which have become madhouses and factories and toxic medical dispensaries, will not teach it, we can teach it.

    Jon, your is always good for stimulating ideas. 1st, I note that while logic and reason got their start in Greece, it did not last long there, either. Socrates was excuted merely for being a critic and all around pain in the @$$ for those in power in Greece. Aristotle was chased out of Greece and fled to Macedonia. It was under the Ptolemys in Alexandria that Philosophy and reason did their best. but in time, vicious elements burned the world renowned library.

    Just reading some on brain science yesterday regarding the hippocampus. the brain is very adaptable. To deprive a brain of stimulation causes atrophy. Interesting old people experience brain atrophy as well. sensory deprivation is a weapon and torture and is a big part of the school curriculum. Let me put it this way, If you are in a desert, you need water. without it, you dry up an die. No food around? you die. not stimulating knowledge and use of that knowledge . . . you die, at least mentally and emotionally and even “spiritually.” how you kill a person hardly matters. There are lots of ways. And every one of them is evil. But we protest guns and bombs (or do we?) but say nothing about lies, deceit or just withholding information and intellectual stimulation. war crimes anyone? Schools are brutal concentration camps. No, I am serious. An attack on the mind or truth is murder, brutality, and torture. No decent human being would engage in such horrific activities. Thank you Jon for tickling my brain. Feel free to do it anytime. I’m easy ya know 😛

    • yellowsub says:

      Isn’t “Support your Troops” your support for the horrific activities? I find that to be a brilliant slogan as people will throw support behind their “own” even if they oppose war. However, it doesn’t work that way. Your support for them is a support for war. Millions of brown people died in Iraq and Afghanistan and other ME countries from our invasions but because it’s done during “war” their deaths have been inconsequential… The US doesn’t even track civilian deaths. It’s great they want to force “US puppet democracy” for everyone but they don’t even care enough to fix the VA… That should be an eye opener that the gov’t doesn’t care.

      It seems the logic is twisted where supporting of killing others is ok as long as it’s for security. It’s never been for Americans’ loss of freedom because they gladly give them to the gov’t that has been stripping them away since 9/11…

      With that said, a small number of people dying shouldn’t really be shocking. One of our bombs drop kill more than that. Obama dropped 100k bombs, Trump already dropped about 2+ k bombs…

      With these school shootings, they are conditioning children to be accustomed to seeing armed guards where ever they go and the worst is how people are demanding them to be put there.

      • truth1 says:

        I don’t recall saying to support troops. Did Jon say it? My contention was and is, that many minds are being destroyed in brutal ways. We were designed to be sensitive gentle creatures except when attacked. but I am against war. I have never seen a good excuse for war. Hope that helps.

      • Warren W. says:

        Supporting your Troops is supporting the Protection of the Country and it’s Citizens if it comes to War so be it..!! Without that Protection you will be Plundered and lose your Freedom.

        • truth1 says:

          If it were true that our military were pursuing a just action, then it would deserve support. But if all they doing is conquering or weakening nations so that they will be easier plunder for global corporations and Banker’s then sincere people resist that and denounce it.

  2. Theodore says:

    The Powers That Be made the spiritually evil decision many moons ago (*): “humans [in the western civilization first world] are obsolete” — meaning, all but a select few are to be deemed obsolete. Meaning, only a certain select few are to be taught the “traditional education” that this article describes.

    After all, to run an electronic, technotronic Technocracy, you need a select few — and those select few would need to have the faculty of reason — otherwise, the Technocracy would fail to be properly maintained.

    BTW, this whole AI computer thing,… I believe that it is, primarily, at its base, just the programming of a computer to do the following human function: “deductive logic” (as opposed to inductive logic). Some of the sexed up terms for “computers running ‘deductive logic’ routines” are “Can machines think?” (Alan Turing in 1950) and the more recent “artificial intelligence”. And I’ll make a further bet that “computers running ‘deductive logic’ routines” has been an obsession of certain academic scholars since the days of “mainframe vacuum tube computers” — only to become a more earnest obsession once the transistor-based mainframes debuted in the 1950s.

    (*) somewhat akin in spirit to the decision a general makes to sacrifice certain troops of his on the battlefield to achieve a certain objective that will then lead to overall victory — only, in this case, with TBTB, worse. Much worse.

  3. Dave Cee says:

    To keep it brief and blunt, we are slowly being eliminated and we will be if we don’t stop it. No one coming here should ever utter these words : “Paranoia or conspiracy theory”

  4. chefjemichel says:

    Thank yo Jon and all!

    The ramifications in suppressing clear logical thinking by way of the public educational systems extends in all directions – within the “human being” (declining individuality if it ever was there) and externally into the social/political/economic spheres (as another child subject to however the prevailing winds are blowing. A few decades ago the materialistic science could not detect the physical impact but now that is possible. Yet the impact was known a hundred years ago:

    “What we call power of discrimination, power of judgment in man, in other words the logical thinking of the thinker, brings about a definite change in the whole structure of the human brain. Clear thinking causes a change in the physical instrument of the brain. Scientific research knows little of this, but it is a fact that a physical brain that has been used by a thinker has a different appearance from the brain which belongs to a non-thinker.”[1]

    Food is another way that is used to conquer a nation. The missing vital nutrients consequential to modern day food processing as well as modern day so called agriculture impact the ability to think. The brain functions differently according to the type and quality of its food somewhat comparable to operating an automobile. The nutritional consequences in tis instance are mental disorders as documented by Dr. Weston A. Price.[2]

    There are a number of additional factors that play into this phenomena as well. Jon also has presented some of these.

  5. From Quebec says:

    Well, by reading the comments on your article yesterday, shows clearly that logic is gone in the USA.

    These people cannot even recognize what a good or a bad President is..They have lost all discernment and hope.

    They do not understand imagination nor creativity. These peoples cannot believe that one individual has the power. to change things around.

    These peoples are too far gone. They are dead. So what do they do? Nothing besides bitching, moaning, complaining and criticizing.

    Good luck with that!

    • truth1 says:

      Quebec, I do not know how anyone today could be ignorant of how politics works. You have to have lots of support from many important influential people and if you do not take care of friends and supporters, then you will quickly run into problems. then there is the fake fights that are put on by both sides, while they pat each other on the back behind closed doors, enjoying an orgy or something not far from that, if not worse. You and people like you who expect us to believe that one man can tell the world to go to heII and still remain living. have you ever heard of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, by chance. He gave a speech on a vast world wide monolithic conspiracy. And he was going to split the CIA into a 1000 pieces. That is prima facie evidence of what happens when you tell other powers among the many powers, to go to heII. If Trump were really a threat to someone, they would be sending him to Dallas for a limo ride. That you can not (cause of your bosses saying no!) admit that no one can take on powers that remain the same from election to election and can not get voted out or have to campaign. You must think we are all stupid. And we all think you are either stupid or lying like heII. Which one is it, Quebec?

      • John says:

        There is one reason Trump will never be touched. Simply put Americans would take the streets in massive numbers with real protests. It would be the end of the elite and they know it. The military is on our side. They dare not go there, they are not that stupid.

        Real American people taking to the streets with pent up true emotion is not something the deep state wants, in fact it fears that scenario. That is the main reason they stick to contrived/fake movements such as AntiFa and BLM. The matrix is changing and the Soros bots can’t stop it. Trump will serve two terms, book it.

        • truth1 says:

          John, the government has super electronic weapons that can dismantle huge numbers of people in seconds. They are well prepared for this. We represent no threat to them and they JFK in broad daylight for all too see. JFK did not think they would go that far, either. But sadly, he was wrong. I learn from the past, which is the best predictor there is for the future as well.

      • From Quebec says:

        To Truth 1:

        You are such a defeatist, which proves that you see yourself and anyone else as powerless.

        First of all, I remember Kennedy death. But do not forget that the Kennedy families had a lot of skeletons in their drawers. I liked him, but I knew he would not make it,

        Trump has no skeleton in his drawers, they have nothing on him, only fabricated dossier and false sexual accusations..

        Besides, they fear him, because he is unpredictable and he is not one of them. He has, never been a politician and never will be. He is a patriot American like any American patriot walking the street in your country. And, he does not need their money.

        When Kennedy and other Presidents were killed, there was no Internet, so that means that there was no alternative media. . Most people did not know about the shadow government and the Deep State. Most of the country believed that he was killed by Oswald.

        Today, people woke up and know that. This is not the case anymore. So now, they are trapped, they cannot make such a killing and go free. Like John comment said below, there would be a violent outbreak and a terrible civil war. The Military stands with Trump and so does the majority of the American peoples who cherish The second amendment.

        Trump is fearless and he thinks outside of the box. he is sort of a genius who is always three or four steps ahead of them.

        I predict that he will do 2 terms and that he will succeed in Making America great again. In history books, Trump will be remembered as the best President ever.

        • truth1 says:

          Go to John’s new blog Feb 15. And your right, I am quite the defeatist, but you left out “the ultimate realist.” I’m so humble, don’t ya think?

  6. Spiritof42 says:

    In the New York Daily News this morning, I caught the headlines about a “racist” principal in Brooklyn who was against black studies. This was front page news!

  7. John says:

    Every single day the left pushes the envelope. They are trying to push a civil war.

  8. Doom says:

    They used to teach logic in schools, but logic is incompatible with multiculturalism/political correctness, or as they call it these days, diversity.

  9. SanityClaus says:

    Euclid’s Elements of Geometry is how logic and eternal truth about number and proportion are taught for 3000 years. Geometry is not taught in U.S. Public schools. There are textbooks with the words “geometry” on the cover but they contain algebraic formulae to be memorized and no geometry at all.
    The schools lie to children about geometry because teaching them real geometry would train them
    to recognize when they are being lied to.

  10. Jon

    Real education died with the disappearance of the mystery schools centuries ago. Now all that remains is the routine “programing” of minds to ignore the immaterial as “it doesn’t exist” (sic). The Roman (Philistines) went so far as to ignore zero. No better example of the materialist style of thinking can be found in the modern day “study” (sic) of “quantum mechanics”.

    The trend actually started after the fall of Atlantis. It was emphasised by the “Philistine” Greeks thousands of years ago as you correctly highlight. Logic and reason “works” to a point….but then…(how on Earth was the Great Pyramid of Giza erected 31,000 years ago?)

    The Aryans kept the old Atlantis wick alive until about 900AD and then they were persecuted into oblivion by “guess who”?

  11. truth1 says:

    superb reply chefjemichel when you think about it, an intelligent person comes off as such as soon as they open their mouths. they way they carry themselves and assert themselves. Of course, evil also recognizes it immediately. Inferior people (leftists marxist types) despise men of ability, reason, and logic. all the left has is lies. there are one or two on these postings that try to get by with smoke mirrors rather than the solid track record of evidence that exposes them. Evidence is always toxic to con-artitsts and leftists.

  12. John L. Mann says:

    An excellent offering once again, Mr. Rappaport, thank you.

    Referring to your bullet point, “Indeed, in certain key respects, schools are asked to substitute and stand in for parents,” I feel the need to add the following opinion:

    In general, both schools and parents rank below TV and social media – in that order – when it comes to a child’s education and ultimate place in society.

  13. Barbra-renee says:

    propaganda cannot grow in the soil of logic

  14. hunaforlife says:
